Commentary In Pursuance Of Books Avenger

Attorney Calvin Dexter hangs his shingle in a quiet New Jersey town, has a reasonably successful practice, and takes the hills strong while triathalon training. But Dexter is no ordinary man.

The summer before he goes to college, Ricky Colenso travels to Bosnia to volunteer as an aid worker. A few weeks later, he disappears and is never heard from again. A family grieves and is offered little hope--in the fog of that horrible time and place, the killer, too, has vanished.

Or so it would seem. For in a world that has forgotten right and wrong, there are few like Cal Dexter who can settle the score. And so, years later, a worldwide chase is on and Dexter begins to draw a net around the killer. But this time CIA agent Paul Devereux must find a way to stop Dexter before his quest for vengeance throws the world into chaos.

A heart-stopping novel of murder and mystery, double-cross and triple-cross, old loyalties and new hatreds, Avenger has all of Frederick Forsyth's page-turning trademarks.

Complex story about a missing/presumed dead, young American aid worker in war torn Bosnia. The young man's wealthy Canadian grandfather hires a detective to locate his missing grandson. The detective soon finds the boy's body brutally murdered by a sadistic, mass-murdering Serb paramilitary who disappears leaving no trace. The Canadian grandfather attempts to go through his US government connections and hits a stone wall. Unknown to other US agencies, one "lesser of two evils" CIA director knows

I had never read any books by Frederick Forsyth, although I felt I should have done. So, when my husband and I were clearing out the spare bedroom and we found Avenger, I set it aside to read. Frederick Forsyth, CBE is an English author, former journalist and spy, and occasional political commentator. He was born in Ashford, England on 25 August 1938.It took me a few weeks for Avenger to reach the top of my pile. However, I was glad when it did. Avenger is a political thriller novel by Frederick

A decent thriller from Forsyth. Lots of historical facts mixed in to the fictional events which I enjoy. 3.5 stars for this one.

As expected, a nice thriller built over a solid pillar of real life facts and information, all in a quick and compelling pace.

well....ididnt really finished the book. i gone through half of it get frustrated. my friend recommended me this book so i started reading it. the auther created a good story and characters. but the way he told it really makes you feel not to read more. i believe he wanted to make the story a bit complicated so it gets all laggy . well simple it is not that musch of good book by fredrick.

I have never read Forsyth but know of him primarily from hearing about The Day of the Jackal, so when a friend loaned me this book, I was interested in seeing just how great a writer he was.Avenger opened with a three paragraph stage-setting prolog that didnt even fill a quarter of a page. This is a good way to start a thriller.Chapter 1 introduced the main character over eight pages and ended with the event that draws him into action. Again, this was good because the reader wants to know a bit

The author gives a very detailed explanation of each of the characters in this espionage thriller which in turn reduces the effectiveness of the plot & slows down the pace of the book. Previous books by this author are better than this one.
