5 stars simply for enjoyment. This novel is written with unashamed gusto and it is clear Welsh loves writing about these characters. He has become somewhat pulpy in his style of late, and his books have taken on an almost cartoon ambience. However, whilst some of his recent work has been mildly disappointing, Im hugely relieved to say this does not disappoint in the slightest. Sure. The prose is patchy. Yes. You have to suspend belief a few times and Welsh demands plenty of artistic licence, but
