Having solved the matter of the Radiant Boy, Riley, Buttercup, and Bodhi are enjoying a well-deserved vacation. When Riley comes across a vicious black dog, against Bodhi’s advice, she decides to cross him over. While following the dog, she runs into a young ghost named Rebecca. Despite Rebecca’s sweet appearance, Riley soon learns she’s not at all what she seems. As the daughter of a former plantation owner, she is furious about being murdered during a slave revolt in 1733. Mired in her own anger, Rebecca is lashing out by keeping the ghosts who died along with her trapped in their worst memories. Can Riley help Rebecca forgive and forget without losing herself to her own nightmarish memories?

Weigh Up Epithetical Books Shimmer (Riley Bloom #2)
Riley is 12 (eternally) she died in a car crash with her parents and after hanging around the earth plane for a while with Ever, she moved on. Now in the 'here and now' she has a job. She is a 'Soul-catcher'. Her job is to persuade other ghosts and spirits to move on.In book 1 she tackled a group of ghosts that no one else could handle. Now she is basking in her glow (literally - ghosts glow when they complete a goal - do something good). Sent for a short vacation with her spirit guide Bodhi

This must be my least favorite book in the series. I just could not care for Rebecca's character that much until later in the end (view spoiler)[when she forgave herself and those she trapped forgave her. (hide spoiler)] Her past and suffering on the hands of her father was really heart-breaking. No one should suffer like this.I think Riley learned a lot in this book and how she can forgive herself and that it is not her fault what happened. Also forgiveness was related to how Bodhi ended up

Alyson Noel's sophomore novel "Shimmer" follows the misadventures of Riley Bloom, Ever's sister from the"Immortals" series by the same author. She has 'got her glow on' since last novel as she has led souls to the afterlife, the Bridge, to the Here and Now, in her job as Soul Catcher. She and her guide Bohdi are allowed a vacay and Riley chooses to visit St John. She decides to take on unassigned soul, despite Bohdi's warning. She finds herself face to face with Rebecca, an evil ghost who takes

Hum... I don't know what to say.

Another cute book about Riley Bloom (Ever's little sister) learning to cope with her afterlife. In this book she learns what happens when you are angry and stubborn, and the good and bad of using you "free will".A nice quick read.

3.5 starsIm so glad that I decided to keep reading this series; I liked this novel a lot more that I liked Radiance. I felt like this second novel in the series has much more substance, and while Riley is still an immature pain in the butt, shes growing just a little bit, making better choices, and I was able to stomach her a lot more in this noveland the same goes for Bodhi. I also really enjoyed the pretense of the novel a lot more. The fact that events in this novel are loosely related to

So if you're a fan of Noel's previous Immortals series or have read the first book Radiance, then be sure to check out this book. However, it might not be for everyone. Unless of course you enjoy a quick and fun-paced light adventure!Full review: http://talesoftheinnerbookfanatic.blo...
